Boot Camo Tips

Cisco Boot Camp Tips for Students

Following are a few suggestions and recommendations to make your visit to Network Bulls more successful, cost-effective and enjoyable.

Suggestions for more success

  • Choose the right track, If you want to take a quicker track, opt for 1-on-1 training.
  • Reserve your seat as early as possible. If you register at least 15 days in advance, you can get the first two course books couriered. This will give you a head start in the training program.
  • Prepare mentally to work hard. Students typically need to study for 10-12 hours per day.
  • Carry a laptop with you (if possible). This will allow you to review PowerPoint slides and practice exercises in the evening. You can also rent a laptop for US $ 7 per day (max $ 100 for a month).
  • Book your return flight a few days after last date of the Bootcamp. This will allow you to attempt any missed exams and/or sightsee. If possible carry an air-ticket in which date change is allowed.

Suggestions to save costs

  • Go for multiple certifications. Cost per certification will go down.
  • If you are paying for the training yourself, claim it as training expenses in your Income Statement (most countries allow full rebate for training expenses).
  • The balance payment has to be made in India, by cash or traveller cheques. Be sure to carry these with you. Balance payment by credit card will incur a surcharge of 3.5%. In addition, you should be aware that overseas credit card payments involve a mark-up of up to 3% due to currency exchange. This is mentioned in Terms and Conditions of every card issuing bank. In India, establishments (including Network Bulls) charge the credit card in Indian Rupees and you can expect to pay up to 3% mark-up.
  • If you are in need of a medical procedure, which is not covered under your medical insurance, you can get it done while you are in India. Indian doctors and hospitals are known for high quality low cost treatment. Many of our students avail medical services, usually dental and eye procedures, during and after the training program.
  • Plan a holiday with your partner. Many participants come along with their partner with them for the entire or partial stay. Some of them go on a tour after finishing the training. Thus, you can have a wonderful holiday in India at a nominal extra cost.
  • Computer Books are very inexpensive in India. It is a good idea to buy these books in India.

Suggestions to make your visit more enjoyable

Invite your partner for part of the course (preferably in the later half when you are finished with the most grueling part of the training). You can then enjoy a pleasant holiday. We can also offer courses apart from tourist activities for your partner. This includes classes on Yoga, English, basics of computing, music and Indian cooking.

Learn a little about India before arriving.

Indian food is spicy and unless eaten from reliable sources can lead to upset stomachs. We advise extreme caution about what you eat in the first one week. Once you know that your stomach is fit to take Indian food you can experiment more. It is best to follow advice of your fellow students and the Centre Manager at the training centre.
