8 routed interfaces and 1024 VLANs. (Show SDM Prefer)?

author

According to the default SDM, it can only support 8 routed interfaces.

I am trying to identify what does it mean by that?

i tried to create more than 8 L3 interface on multilayer switch and it is created and everything is working fine.

so what does it mean by 8? and that 8 ports also addition of SVI's means total L3 Ports+SVI = 8?

sh sdm prefer

The current template is "desktop default" template.

The selected template optimizes the resources in

the switch to support this level of features for

8 routed interfaces and 1024 VLANs.

number of unicast mac addresses: 6K

number of IPv4 IGMP groups + multicast routes: 1K

number of IPv4 unicast routes: 8K

number of directly-connected IPv4 hosts: 6K

number of indirect IPv4 routes: 2K

number of IPv4 policy based routing aces: 0

number of IPv4/MAC qos aces: 512

Hi Maulik, very nice question.
actually, the statement is

The selected template optimizes the resources in

the switch to support this level of features for

8 routed interfaces and 1024 VLANs

:-

now it does not means you cannot create more than 8 l3 interfaces, it's just the hardware will not be able to optimize them for you and can

face performance issues.

Hope it clarifies your doubt if you need further help do reply.
